The Start of a New Season

It's mid-september and I think we all know what that means..no, not school starting! It's the start of a new season; TV season that is!! This is one of my favorite times of year because all of my favorites return and I hopefully get to add some new shows to my ever-growing list of shows that I watch.

I will keep this entry short and sweet and just say that I may have tried to get this going in the past but this year I plan to keep my promise of talking all things tv because, let's face it, I do that anyway! Stay tuned for a rundown of my picks of what to watch in the new crop of shows starting this year. There will also be some recaps of what happened in some of last year's finales and maybe even some sneak peeks of what's to come. One little bit to get everyone ready for tonight's One Tree Hill premiere. The show is bringing back the theme song but going about it the way of Weeds and having a different artist cover the Gavin DeGraw tune "I don't wanna be" each week :)

Stay Tuned!

Grey's treat

Forgot to post something exciting I found. The first five minutes of the Grey's Anatomy premiere! Some people want to see it, some don't. I've wached it twice now and can tell you I was on the verge of tears both times which means the rest of it is defnitely a tear-jerker. So click the link and tell me what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHZ4MTo-yxo

Emmy Time

OK so I missed last week, sorry about that. I got a bit distracted. I hope everyone caught a few more premieres though. I watched One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Fringe, The Biggest Loser and The Beautiful Life. Loser was great as always with the most inspring stories. Of the few reality shows I do watch, it is by far my favorite. TBL was a lot better than expected I have to say, especially after all the negative things i was hearing about it. It is the perfect show to air on CW and fit in with audience they have and are trying to conquer. GG and OTH both started off pretty great. I am really excited to see where this season of OTH goes with the new characters and the slight time jump (one year this time, as opposed to 4 last time). I also loved seeing Blair and Chuck in real couple mode, or at least what is real couple mode for them which of course is very disfunctional but extremely fun and entertaining. Fringe was creepy, excting, weird and great as I expected. In my eyes JJ Abrams can do no wrong. I will follow anything with his name attached because I truly think he is a great storyteller. (anyone with doubts just look at Felicity, Alias, or Lost and prove yourself wrong).

Now onto some Emmy talk...first, i think Neil Patrick Harris did a great job. His opening song was great and I thought he was a really lively, friendly host and kept the show running incredibly smooth. I also really liked the idea to split up the awards into the five different categories. It really gave the show a cohesiveness I have never seen before. As far as the awards themselves, I have to say they were pretty expected with repeats of Mad Men and 30 Rock for drama and comedy series. My biggest upset was NPH not winning for comedy supporting actor, he really deserves and personally I don't watch Two and a half men so I would always rather see someone from a show I watch win rather than from a show I don't watch. One last point, I loved the Dr. Horrible skit- by far the highlight of my night- for anyone that had no idea what they were watching. Go to hulu.com and watch all three acts of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. I promise you will not be disappointed!

Now remember, this is official premiere week so there is lots of TV to be watched this week and I expect all of you to be watching with me!

first week of fall TV: Complete!

So tuesday was 90210 and Melrose Place and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with both. 90210 still had a lot of cheesiness to it, but I can tell they are trying tomake the show be able to stand on its own and not just rest on the laurels of being a remake of the original. Melrose Place was exactly what I expected it to be: trashy, fantastic, immediately filled with drama-laden beautiful people and not apologizing for any of it. Now this show may never win an emmy, but it seems like it is doing all the things the original was known and loved for and making it fit in our modern world. I look forward to seeing what else this show has in store...first off being whatever secret Ashlee Simpson's Violet is keeping.

Glee also premiered on Wed. night and I was really happy with what I saw. I read some majorly different opinions of the show now that it has returned, but I really enjoyed it. I was able to come into the show knowing what to expect this time which I think made me enjoy it a lot more than the premiere. I was ready for all the snappy, dark humor and of course loved all the musical numbers!

Very impressed with the Vampire Diaries, I was hooked within the first 20 minutes because well lets face it, Kevin Williamson (Exec producer/writer) knows how to write intriguing TV, especially about teens. Hello Dawson's Creek! I also have to give a shoutout to the actors playing stefan and jeremy (the younger brother) as they both are both Everwood alums which ranks extremely high in my book! Not sure if anyone else thought of this but the girl immediately infatuated with the mysterious guy and the beginning when she was writing in her journal reminded me a lot of Roswell. It's an old WB show with Katherine Heigl pre-grey's about aliens but they definitely have a similar vibe. I won't go into the Twilight references just yet because there will be time for that and believe me there were a lot of similarities but also some pretty major differences. Let's just try to watch with an open mind and judge the show on the content as opposed to how the town of Forks compares to the town of Mystic Falls.

So I wanted to try and keep these as short as possible since it is the first actual post about shows, but don't worry, I will get into the juicier plot detail stuff later on. Oh, and one last thing, Ellen on Idol, wow...I don't even watch the show but I know this is big and I am excited to see how it goes.

Until next time TV lovers...

A little something special...

First things first, I just want to say thank you to everyone who read my first post and sent me words of encouragement, much appreciated! Now onto more exciting things...

I found an exciting little treat for all the OTH (one tree hill) fans out there. By the way i abbreviate a lot of show names so get used to that, and if you don't know an abbreviation, ask! Anyway, the first four minutes of the season 7 premiere of OTH were released by CW so i wanted to share the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pboFAL-NQI. These first four minutes seem like a great start to a new season and I am really excited to see how they deal with the void left behind by Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton's Lucas and Peyton characters leaving. Robert Buckley's sports agent character of Clay has already caught my attention, so I hope he is as good as he seems those few minutes. I will defnitely be talking more about OTH after the premiere next monday (Sept. 14th), I hope everyone else will be watching with me!!

Don't forget, tonight is the season premiere of 90210, I am giving it a second chance this season and treating it like I do series premieres...3 episodes. If a show hasn't kept my attention and kept me wanting to go back for more by three episodes, I am out. I will be doing the same thing for the premiere of the new Melrose Place, a show I watched religiously in its original form back in the day. I will let you know how I feel about both in the next few weeks and I would love to hear what everyone else thinks so please write in the comments section! So enjoy the official start to the new TV season by watching some TV tonight, its ok if you're busy, just blame it on me.

The beginning

Ok, so here it goes.... my first blog. To be honest, I wasn't sure this blogging thing was for me, but i had a bunch of people suggest I start a blog about TV since I love everything Television related. Everyone reading this probably knows this already since they are here after getting my schedule I send out every season, and you were interested in what I had to say. Well, It's not quite the start to the tv season yet but it gets started in exactly a week so you know i'm excited! Don't worry I will soon have a lot to talk about, and I'm sure I will get better and more interesting as I write more so just be patient please.

In the meantime, I just want to say Brothers & Sisters Season 3 came out on DVD today and of course I already bought it, I will let you know how the special features are! And don't forget, next tuesday is premiere day for 90210 (i'm giving it a second chance since there is a new showrunner and supposed new direction) and the series premiere of Melrose Place on the CW. I will be back after to discuss so until then...let's watch some TV!
